About Us

TDG Business Services (formerly TDG Associates) was founded by Alan Donges in 2009 after he retired from 28 years with accounting firm Roberts & Morrow, including 18 years in the partnership. The goal of TDG was to provide local, tailored accounting and business services to the Tenterfield and surrounding community.


Based in a rural area, we have first-hand knowledge of the issues that primary producers and businesses face in this area, and many of us live on the land ourselves. We are also affiliated with Westlawn Finance and share office space with them, making it easy for you to chat with them if you need to obtain a loan.

Chartered accountants undergo the most rigorous training program following university.  A chartered accountant is an internationally recognised designation, and these accountants are required to maintain very high ethical and professional standards. They are also required to undergo ongoing professional education.

Alan Donges



With over 35 years of experience in public practice and the finance industry, Alan is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia. Alan enjoys meeting with his clients face-to-face and often travels to see them.


Alan launched TDG Associates in 2009 after retiring from Roberts & Morrow, where he worked for 28 years, including 18 years in the partnership. In 2013, the company was rebranded to TDG Business Services.


Alan’s professional interests include small business management and taxation, superannuation and retirement planning, and the interaction of IT systems within the industry.


Married to Michelle, Alan has five children and when he has time is a keen cricketer, golfer, and rugby player.

Donna Simpson

Donna has over 20 years of experience working in accounting and taxation.  Upon graduating from UNE Armidale with a Bachelor of Commerce (majoring in Accounting and Human Resource Management), Donna joined Roberts & Morrow in 2000 working in the Tenterfield office. 


Donna finished her CA qualification to become a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in 2004, before travelling and working in Canada for 12 months.  Since coming back to Australia, Donna worked in Brisbane and Melbourne as a Business Services Manager and In-House Business Services Advisor.


Having grown up in Ballandean and her family still farming now, Donna has life experience not only in agriculture but an array of industries such as hospitality, mining, real estate, property development and project management.


Donna spends her spare time being mum to Bronson.

Lynne Dearden



Lynne started working with TDG 3 years ago and brings extensive knowledge in bookkeeping. Lynne finds figures challenging and balancing the figures keeps her brain working. Lynne has experience in many different industries.


Outside of working she enjoys the cinema, reading, walking, knitting, and spending time with her 3 grandchildren.


Trish Gray

Junior Accountant


Trish travelled the world serving in the Royal Australian Navy for 15 years before settling down in Tenterfield over 2 and a half years ago joining us at the TDG firm. Trish is currently undertaking further study. 


Trish is an avid competitor in the sport of dressage and when not at work loves spending time with her horse Priscilla. 

Margaret Lane

Assistant Accountant 


Margaret joined TDG part-time in 2020 focusing her work on self managed super funds.   She has over 14 years experience in bookkeeping where she also carries out the bookkeeping for her own electrical business with her husband, located in Toowoomba.  


She grew up on a farm half an hour from Toowoomba and now resides in Toowoomba with her husband and 3 children.

Stephanie Skinner


-Dual Degree in Agribusiness and Applied Science


Steph joined TDG in early 2020 working on Self Managed Super Funds.


Steph graduated in 2013 from University of Queensland with a dual degree in Agribusiness and Applied Science (majoring in Production Animal Science), before making the tree change to Tenterfield.


In her spare time Steph is raising two beautiful young girls. Steph also enjoys baking, travelling and pretending to enjoy watching her husband play cricket. 

Janine Egan



Janine joined the TDG team in 2019 working remotely part time and now is working full time since relocating to Tenterfield. 


Janine owned her own book-keeping business on the Gold Coast for over 10 years. Janine also worked as a Financial Controller in the hotel and childcare industries. Janine also ran a winery in the Margaret River Region with her husband. 


Janine enjoys spending her spare time camping and travelling outback Australia, she also enjoys to travel overseas by way of cruising. 

Jenna Hurst

Office Administrator


Jenna is the newest team member to TDG joining us in late 2020 bringing extensive knowledge of administration. Jenna has book keeping background often helping with the family business in the Gold Coast. 


Before moving to Tenterfield Jenna has spent many years working in Child Care before taking on a new adventure with us.


Jenna enjoys camping and spending time with friends and family travelling to see the wonderful sites of the Tenterfield Region. She also enjoys spending time with her two Miniature Dachshunds Fred and Fergie. 

Kelly Hutchison



Kelly has been with our practice for almost 3 years now in our administration team. In our office, Kelly is responsible for all internal administration, client support, ATO liaison and in-house events coordination.


In her time with us, she has not only taken on the role as our main receptionist but also the basics of using the accounting system MYOB Essentials. Kelly is here to assist in ensuring our clients are well looked after from the first point of contact.


In her spare time, Kelly enjoys reading, music and spending time with her family and friends along with her Border Collie Bundy.
